Early pregnancy symptoms
Every woman’s pregnancy, just like every woman, is unique. Some women feel all the pregnancy symptoms right from the start, while others don’t experience symptoms for weeks or months.
Let’s take a closer look at the most common signs of pregnancy. Although other health issues could cause these symptoms, when you have multiple, you might be pregnant.
- A missed period is usually the first sign of pregnancy.
- Tender, swollen breasts are often a result of hormonal changes.
- Nausea with or without vomiting. This condition is also commonly referred to as “morning sickness,” although it can occur at any time of day or night.
- Increased urination.
- Fatigue.
Other, less obvious signs:
- Moodiness.
- Bloating.
- Light spotting.
- Cramping.
- Constipation.
- Food aversions.
- Nasal congestion.
Finding out if you’re pregnant
Other health concerns can cause some of the above symptoms. For instance, stress, increased exercise, a hormonal imbalance, and rapid weight gain or loss can cause you to skip a period. A urinary tract infection can increase your need to visit the bathroom more frequently, and having the flu can cause nausea.
The first step to determining if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. Hope Women’s Center offers free and confidential self-administered pregnancy testing. Whether it’s your first test or you need to retest to confirm previous results, come to us for a complimentary test.
